Ovoca Road, Portobello
Full Home Renovation
This project, delivered in collaboration with Daniel Coyle Architects, involved significant structural intervention to retain and support the existing façades of a corner period house in Portobello.
Behind the preserved Victorian red-brick exterior, we constructed a contemporary home designed by Daniel Coyle Architects. The result is a high-performance, A-rated airtight dwelling incorporating a heat pump system, demand-controlled heat recovery ventilation, and a substantial array of rooftop solar panels.
A key feature of the design is a dramatic double-height atrium, opening onto a landing above and complemented by a bespoke cut-string metal staircase.
The extension is centred around a private courtyard terrace, fully embraced by wraparound glazing that visually connects the interior with the garden. Upper levels are finished in striking bronze VM zinc cladding, creating a bold contrast with the retained historic façade.
