Ovoca Road, Portobello II
Renovation & Extension
Our second project on Ovoca Road, this split-level terraced period house was completed in collaboration with Dermot Bannon Architects.
By lowering the garden levels, we introduced a series of steps leading down into a striking new extension. This intervention allowed for increased ceiling heights and the incorporation of exposed timber rafters, as envisioned in Dermot's design — creating a bright, architectural living space with a strong connection to the outdoors.
To the front, the original Victorian brick façade was carefully and tastefully repointed, preserving the character of the home. To the rear, a contrasting Pearla brick was selected, featuring a refined stepped brick detail that adds depth and texture to the elevation. A RAL 7021 aluminium capping was used throughout, complementing the window frames and the aluminium-clad first-floor bathroom box extension.
The roof was finished with a sedum system, enhancing both the visual and environmental performance of the build.
The project also included a full renovation of the existing house, together with comprehensive electrical and mechanical upgrades, bringing the property up to a modern standard while respecting its period origins.
